ArchivalResource

Daybook, 1853-1856.

Records debits and credits accrued by Wilson & Daniels from 1853 to 1856, primarily for printing engravings. Entries record such activities as selling engraving plates, cleaning plates, mounting daguerreotypes, printing certificates, preparing proofs, and printing in large volume. In many instances, the name of an illustration is included. Quantities of 250 and 500 suggest that Wilson & Daniels were making plates for books. Well-known Boston engravers were among their clients, including Joseph Andrews. Andrews appears to have rented space from them.
